Cockroaches give you the creeps even if you mention their name and rightly so. Apart from being thoroughly gross creatures that have no boundaries when it comes to invading your house and every crevice they can find, these insects are also quite dangerous, spreading diseases and playing havoc with you and your family’s health.
While most insects are usually considered harmless by humans, some like bees, wasps, bedbugs, termites and even dust mites are considered a nuisance, and even dangerous in some cases. Cockroaches too fall in this category of insects and although only four species out of a whopping 4600 species of roaches actually make it into the list of pests, even these are more than enough to make life miserable and even unhealthy.
For example, there are about 33 different types of bacteria that can be found in cockroaches, and these in turn pose several dangers to human beings. Apart from a long list of bacteria, there are also different types of human pathogens and parasitic worms that cockroaches carry and these too can cause severe infections and diseases.
Moreover, since they roam the house and even walk over all the food you leave outside, the consumption of infected food is even more of a possibility.
Apart from these bacteria, pathogens and parasites, the skin, droppings and saliva of cockroaches can cause allergies too. These allergens that cockroaches spread risks of allergic reactions and even asthma.
Children are especially susceptible to contracting these diseases and developing allergic reactions.
Moreover, since these critters roam in every dark, dinghy and dirty place you can think of, they are also capable of carrying the bacteria that are found in these places and depositing them on your food.
Therefore, for these reasons and more, cockroaches do pose a real danger to our health.
